I had to take methyldopa for high blood pressure with my last pregnancy and it made me feel horrible! I was dizzy and nauseous every time after i took it. Didn’t matter if it was morning or night, any time i took it i suffered. Are there any other medications i can take to mange my blood pressure that are safe to take? i know there are other women out there that have high blood pressure and are pregnant. What do they all do?
Thanks for your help! My Dr. is on Vacation until Friday and i’m too impatient to wait for her answer…LOL! I will definitely bring all your suggestions to the table when i do see her next week though…Thanks!
Could someone suggest a bulk herbs to mix to allow control blood pressure as a experiment? Ratio of herbs? I would like to capsule in size 00.
Maybe a good reference book for treatment of Type 2 Diabetes/High Blood Pressure?
How would you know that you must get your blood sugar/pressure checked.. what are the symptoms?
Since last 2 weeks, i have been feeling dizzy, sleepy and tired.
I had a health screening last friday and because I have a big upper arm the nurse used a large cuff and my BP was scarily high (140/104). Today I got it measured at a blood pressure kiosk with a "normal" sized cuff and it was better (123/84).
I know both readings are high but I’m trying to track it to help decided if I want to take medication or not. I’m already trying to lose weight which I know will bring it down.
I regularly check my blood pressure and recently, my blood pressure has been at the range from Prehypertension to Stage 1 Hypertension. I had a detailed physical exam a couple of weeks ago, and the doctor said it had nothing to do with what I ate. Not to mention, I eat VERY healthy. I eat mostly fruits and vegetables, very little meat, and almost no junk food at all (I’m not overweight/obese) either.
People have told me to "watch my diet," but as I’ve mentioned, I eat very healthy, and it has almost nothing to do with what I eat. So at this point, we are all assuming that my high blood pressure is caused by a series of stress from school, family, and friends–making it so I also lack sleep at the same time. I know "getting more sleep" is obviously a helpful treatment, but I’m looking for some more advice from health experts.
Is there any way I can treat this (i.e. meditation, more exercise, etc.)? Any other facts or advice related to high blood pressure are also welcome! Thank you!
Thanks to the people who have answered this question so far. But please, if you’re not going to read the details of this question, at least read the title of the question. I am looking for DRUG-FREE treatment…not pills or any kind of medication.
Would the stopping of blood pressure controlling medication encourage someone to make healthy lifestyle choices like eating healthy, adequate water intake and exercise? Would it encourage someone to make a lifestyle change much sooner than they otherwise might decide on a much later time? What do you think?

I just looked it up since I got off the phone with my mom who has been managing her high blood pressure naturally for a couple of years. She said it really worked for her when she tried it. I’ve seen hbp questions here, and never run into a beet juice answer. I was wondering if others have tried it, or if it is still fairly new and just breaking into the high blood pressure treatment news? I’m glad she discovered it, but I’m wondering why I hadn’t heard about it before this.
I am just curious because I am currently being monitored for HBP and I asked my doctor about symptoms because every where I look it is called the "silent killer", yet some ppl say nosebleeds, floaters, dizziness, lightedness etc can be symptoms. What has anyone else experienced as symptoms of HBP.
I heard that blood gets thick when u do walk and running and it causes high blood pressure specially in winter is it true or no/.?? I m asking that because i have problem of high blood pressure .
already on high blood pressure medication, recently dr. added additional medication that is making me tired. So what to do to have more energy during the day, so that I can sleep at night. I work out 2 to 4 times per week as well.
High blood pressure treatment that does not promote nausia
My bf takes medicine for high blood pressure, he has an enlarged heart, diabetes and sleep apnea. In his fridge he has two six packs of zimas. He says that they don’t have enough alcohol in them to hurt anything. Am I stressing for nothing or is he a complete moron?
don’t want to take prescription drugs
If it can why doesn’t the Doctor emphasize it?I’m not a water drinker, but I’m only reminded to drink water when I’m giving blood for a test, sometimes and to help with weight loss. I’m wondering if it would lessen ‘gout’ symptoms in my big toe joint also.
I would like to be on a good diet for IBS and High Blood pressure and high Cholesterol. Can you help me eat the right things, for my health conditions.HeLLLpPPP!!!
Today I found out that my blood pressure is low, 60/80
What are some causes of low blood pressure?
And how can I bring my blood pressure back up to normal?
no you read it correctly its 60/80
sorry that is 80/60, i was a little confused
I would like to add that this low blood pressure is accompanied by dizziness, especially upon standing up, fatigue, and other feelings of weakness.
I am taking a high blood pressure medication, and it seems/appears that since I have been taking the medication I have had headaches all over, dizziness/light headedness, numbness in parts my face, as well as a stiff neck. These symptoms arent consisently there, maybe 1-2 times a day for an hour or so. Can a high blood pressure medication cause such or is this some unrelated condition that I should seek out?
some of my symptoms are rapid heart, and passing out
Is a raw vegan diet healthful over a long period of time, especially with diabetes and high blood pressure? I am trying to switch to a raw vegan diet, but my dietitian insists it is not healthful. Has anybody here tried it long-term, or know anybody who has? I’m wanting to lose a lot of weight, and I’ve been making a lot of salads, with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, green bell peppers, celery, onions, carrots … and then I pour on a bunch of vinegar and lemon juice. It’s tasty, nutritious, and very low-calorie. It seems to be working for me, but my dietitian isn’t happy. And I didn’t even tell you what my primary care physician thinks about my decision to quit all my diabetes and blood pressure medications and just rely on a raw vegan diet instead of the meds … except that I’m going to have to find another primary care physician.
My mom is in the hospital. Some of her symptoms include:
-Kidney Failure
-HIGH blood pressure
-Severe Pain
-Confusion
-Shakiness
I wouls really like it if someone could answer this question… Thank you.
