best way to stop auto engine from smoking due to bad rings till i can get it fixed?
4 cyl 1995 saturn not bad yet but blowing smoke out the tailpipe when rpm up high like passing gear. using 1 1/2 qt every fill up. definitly rings.

You can try some STP products such as Engine Stop Leak (http://www.stp.com/oil_stop.html) or Smoke Treatment (http://www.stp.com/oil_smoke.html)
use thicker oil (5W or so) unless you are in a real cold climate now…
You need to put in an oil treatment / Oil Stabilizer into your oil…, also I would recommend to switch to a synthetic oil until you get the rings replaced.

Need to switch to heavier oil,50w would last longer than your normal 30w,it will be a little tough on your oil pump but you have to take the lesser of two evils
I had a 65 chev that was a smoker, I added a can of motor honey every time I changed the oil and it ran for almost another 70,000 miles with little to no smoke at all.
try a gallon or two of kerosene with every tank fillup.
works good on diesels.
