medication can be a good thing but the side effects are agonizing. On most prescriptions anyways. But if you really want to quit without cheating. Do it cold turkey and do something else to occupy your mind such as, playing a game, talking to someone, chewing gum, ect..
Each person’s genetic make-up is different. What will work for me wont work for you. I suggest you experiement with several options until you find one the works for you.
Ease yourself off of it if you have to, better doing it that way then staying addicted to something thats about 4 inches long and 1/4 inches wide aye?
please collect some information about it and see its harmful and dreadful example sof it that make u remember anytime it will help in creating hatred against it so u next time anybody ask smoking u will not able to do so.
Unfortunately there is no tried and true method to giving up smoking, each person has to find the way that suits them best.
Speak to other ex-smokers ask them what assisted them to succeed, listen to what they say and work out for yourself what’s the best way for you, a bit of what this person says, a bit of what that person said, you know your body and what will work for you…
This is my giving up story.
I gave up smoking last July due to medical reasons, I went cold turkey for the first week and half (I couldn’t smoke because I was coughing too hard) but as soon as I was ok I did find a rogue cigarette in the house and smoked that. I realised then that I wouldn’t be able to cope unless I used soemthing, so I went on the gum and found that suited me best, (mind you I think my jaws may get RSI especially when around smokers).
I am not on the nicorettes anymore but when I find myself craving I use ordinary sugarless gum until the craving goes away, that seems to work now.
I smoked for 41 years and really miss smoking because I really enjoyed it, but now I enjoy being a non smoker more, and that is what I focus on when tempted.
If it doesn’t work the first time you try to give up, keep trying.
Put a strategy in place, get rid of all temptations, keep away (if possible) from other smokers for the first week or so just while you get used to not having a cigarette in your hand.
Make a date to stop a week or two in the future. Then do not smoke at specific times, eg I’d get in the car and light up, when having a drink etc, smoke in between these times.get your body out of the habit of the ‘usual’ times.
On the day you give it up, keep yourself physically busy so your hands are busy with other things than looking for a cigarette. When craving, take a deep breath into your stomach, and counting as you breath out slowly. Speak to other ex smokers ask them what assisted them to succeed..
I hope you found this useful
Good luck
Hmmmmmm, getting pregnant worked excellently with me, but I’m afraid that would be inapplicable in your case
Before I quit I had managed to drastically cut down on cigarettes by changing my favourites with brands I disliked. I had smoked about 1 and a half to 2 packs a day for quite a few years. When I moved on to less desirable cigarettes (I used to like really ‘heavy’ stuff – lots of nicotine and tar – and moved to ‘lights’, ’slims’ and the like) I managed to keep them ‘no more than 3 a day’ for a year and a half.
I didn’t think that these are less harmful – they might be but I wasn’t interested in that, I had figured out a way to satisfy my bad habit but not as often as it no longer gave me the same intensity of pleasure.
And then as I already mentioned I got pregnant and had strong enough motivation not to torture my poor body any more.
Quitting is all very personal – you’d better try different options until you succeed. It’s good that you have the motivation – a really good start.
I wish you luck!
Thanks but did you actually see the photos of me?
If yes what was I wearing?
Or are you in it just for the 10 points?
Take care hun
