I really do think that the next time some student nurse or med- student or trolley-pusher or "para-medic" writes "THE SILENT KILLER" on Answers, I shall scream.,.. …………..
It’s so bl**dy twee , smug, patronizing and utterly devoid of meaning, …and yet, -it rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it…
Edit Donna , don’t worry,
-( Me, I’d had a tot or two, too, see?) (Hic ….)
The short answer is no.
People live with undiagnosed high blood pressure for years because it has no short term manifestations.
The pressure you are experiencing is most likely due to blocked sinuses.
High blood pressure is called the silent killer because there is no symptom. Your condition could be due to stress or sinus as you suggested. The only way to know if you have a blood pressure problem is to do blood pressure test.
Actually, the answers above are partially wrong.
There are symptoms of hypertension but most do not have those symptoms, which is why it is labeled the "Silent Killer."
Those symptoms would be:
-Headache, often pulsating
-Nausea/Vomiting
-Visual issues
-Dizziness
-Confusion
-Chest pain
-Shortness of breath
-Bloody urine
-Irregular heartbeat
These symptoms could also be related to something else and often they are. If you have the above symptoms, don’t think just hypertension because some of the above can be much more serious (Heart attack and stroke).
Hypertension is the silent killer because it can cause a stroke, vision problems, kidney failure, heart attack, and heart failure without much warning.
Silent Killer, SiLeNt KiLleR, SILENT KILLER !! treat with BETA BLOCKERS, all the beta blocker in the entire WORLD!!!!!! so sorry Mrs D., but I’ve been drinking. It’s sinus pressure, not high blood pressure, sinus pressure, the real silent killer !!!!!!!!!!
I had symptoms with high blood pressure — headaches, tightness in my chest, a sense that something was just not right — but I didn’t realize high blood pressure was the reason for the symptoms. I had no idea my blood pressure was high enough to cause a stroke. A routine blood pressure test at the optometrist saved my life. High blood pressure is called the silent killer because you can walk around feeling normal or even not quite normal and not realize how much at risk you are for a heart attack or stroke.
there are several signs of high BP. are neck pains, arm pains and dizziness.
