Heart Palpitations dangerious?
Hello, a few days ago about a half Biotest Spike Shooter, which contains
B12 (methylcobalamin) 1,500 mcg
SPIKE® Shooter Formula 1,057 mg
N-acetyl-L-tyrosine
Caffeine anhydrous 300mg
Yohimbine HCl
And aside from anxiety, and nausea I experienced severe heart palpitations for about 2-3 hours. Now I’m wondering if this was dangerous, I didn’t seek medical attention at the point but could this have been harmful to my heart? I don’t normally have heart palpitations and my blood pressure is normal.

Yohimbine HCL & caffeine ah 300mg are sufficient to give the above symptoms, stop this Sipke shooter OK.
300mg of Caffeine?? Wow! Yeah that is most definitely what caused your palpitations. High doses of caffeine can cause frequent PVCs (Pre-Ventricular Contractions). Everyone has the occasionally PVC which causes no ill effects. However when PVC’s start happening very frequently it can be a sign the heart muscle is irritated. In the case of ingestion of high doses of caffeine, the PVCs are caused from the caffeine causing enhanced automaticity of the hearts conduction system.
To give you an idea of how much caffeine 300mg is, here is a list of the amount of caffeine in a couple popular drinks
Coffee, Brewed 80-100mg
Red Bull (8.2 oz) 80.0mg
Mountain Dew 55.0mg
Dr. Pepper 41.0mg
Coca-Cola Classic 34.0
The other ingredients of the energy drink you drank are there to pretty much enhance the effect of the caffeine.
Soooooo moral of the story here is stay away from that much caffeine!!
