I am a long time smoker who is trying to quit. I have not had a cigarette in 10 days!!! I have been taking Chantix by Pfizer for almost 3 weeks and it is working! It takes the desire away from you… but there are times during the day that I want one really bad. My husband is trying to quit too. So we are doing it together and that helps a lot. Our health insurance paid for the prescription. They say that it is about 80% effective. But I think no matter what, you have to have the DESIRE to quit. Good luck!
Don’t inhale cigarette smoke. LOL
I quit using the patch.
The key is to really be mentally committed to quiting.
it will all start with you and your desire to quit it.
have you tried zyban tablets?they are excellent.it send signals to your brain and tells you that you dont need a fag.but be aware, it has loads of side effects. gud luck.
I’ve tried zyban and the patch .Combining the two AND willpower may be my next option !
The patch contains nicotine where as zyban does not. Zyban helps reduce your cravings.
WANTING to quit will be a big help. Good Luck
1st ; you have to WANT to stop. if you don’t, forget it now, and wait until you do.
2nd ; no tobacco in your bag, pockets, house.
3rd ; forget about it. find other things to do, start a ‘hobby’, do some knitting. Just do other things.
4th ; if you are one of the many people that can’t handle a drink without a smoke, maybe you should consider going to the pub/bar less. I know you can’t smoke IN there anymore, but you know you’ll be standing outside with the other smoking refugees, so limit that too.
sometimes, a whole lifestyle has to change to give up something like smoking (but only really if the will power is weak)
otherwise, you should just be able to put them down and say you don’t want to smoke again.
always start with the 1st point. if you can’t go past that, wait a while…
Keep trying…
the more times you try, the more you will realize that you really want to quit.
Try nicorette gum.. gradually weaning yourself to regular gum.
Good luck, from:
9 years strong!
I quit when I decided that I wasn’t going to have another cigarette. I slowly dropped down from a pack to half a pack to 5 a day to 2 a day and when the last one was gone that was it.
Its good that you post this question .. you have determination ..
you’ll stop smoking if you are really aware of its dangers .. then refer to specialists ..
Chantix is amazing. It is a new prescription drug and a lot of insurances will cover it. It’s a 3 month treatment, you just need a prescription. It is very different than anything else out there. It is seriously a breakthrough! You can google it and find out all about it. I personally know 3 people who have smoked for 15-20 years and all 3 have quit with this drug, after failing with everything else.
Dont carry a pack with you.
Forget about it.
If you really need one ask somebody to give you one. You will reduce it.
In the beginning it will be difficult but again IF YOU DONT CARRY a pack with you you will quit in three months, believe me.
Good luck amigo
If you have the never to say no, you would youd have a way!
Please understand that your urge to smoke is only for 5 Min, you over come this for the first time you’d keep away from smoke for the next urge, this typically mind over matter, start your 1 st Non smoking day: by marking on a calender, you’d have withdrawal symptoms after a week of no smoking, but that kwel convince your self that: your will power is better than your urge.
Let me know if you don’t succeed!!!
The Very Best
well the best way to stop smoking is adherence.. it means that if you want to stop smoking… you must be determined to do it… remember that the most difficult thing is always the first step.. you don’t need to stop abruptly… you may start by minimizing… for example you can consume 10 sticks per day… try to lessen 1-2 sticks per day until you come to the point that you can smoke 1 stick every week and then…. none…
