I just took our blood pressure on one of the little automatic home monitors, honestly, I have been trying to find it because I was a bit worried about him.

He’s 58, over 6ft, not overweight, he’s usually a bit breathless on exertion (smoker), but he’s started having some headaches lately, and saying it’s too hot when I don’t think it’s hot in the house, so I was wondering about his heart and his blood pressure and I hunted down the monitor.

It measured me at 110/62 (I’m 40 and female) but it measured him at 116/107 – that diastolic is way too high isn’t it? I know he’s older and older people do have higher diastolic pressure, but I didn’t think he was really old enough for it to be that high.

At 58 (drinker/smoker) it this real bad at his age or just a bit high and something we could cure with lifestyle changes?

Thank you.
