My blood pressure is a little high(sometimes over 140) but then it has been that way since at least I was 13?
just in the last couple years have I been taking meds for it. The cure is worse than the illness. The medicines they have been giving me didnt bring it down much, so they loaded me up with 4x the original dose. Almost killed me, joint pain like you would not believe, Its been over a week now since I quit taking it and my wrists are still aching like crazy. So am I better off not taking the meds or should I look for some other way to lower my blood pressure?
when I stopped takng it, the doc prescribed another med, I took it the first day, could hardly get out of my chair. Havent taken another. I got to think that the cure is way worse that the sickness(If that is what it is). I would rather just die than suffer those side effects.

Medications can often cause unwanted side effects.
BP over 140 is considered stage one high blood pressure.
You need to control your BP because high BP can lead to other illnesses.

See another DR and tell them your situation. They will reassess your condition and find another medication for you. There are different classes of drugs that you could take to lower your BP.
Medications
Medications may be combined with other treatments for tachycardia. Options may include:
Drugs to slow the heart rate
Choosing an effective medication or combination of medications requires an accurate diagnosis of the rhythm disorder. The medications are usually taken daily for life. Medications may include:
* Digoxin
A traditional treatment, digoxin controls the heart rate at rest, but not as well during activity.
* Calcium channel blockers or beta-blockers
A newer approach is calcium channel blockers or beta-blockers. These drugs control heart rate more consistently both at rest and during activity.
Since ventricular tachycardia is life threatening, patients have electrophysiologic testing to determine a medication’s effectiveness. The physician stimulates the heart to beat abnormally to determine which medication most effectively restores normal heart rhythm.
* Drugs to prevent blood clots
Patients with tachycardias and heart disease are at especially high risk of stroke. Blood-thinning medications (anticoagulants) such as warfarin or aspirin may be prescribed.

Surgical Procedures
Open-heart maze procedure
For surgical maze procedures, surgeons create multiple cuts into the muscle of the atria and then stitch them together. These incision lines interfere with stray electrical pathways and circuits. The lines reduce the size of atrial tissue sections needed to maintain tachycardia.
Never, and I mean never stop taking that med abruptly. You should have weaned yourself off of it. Going off that med like you did can cause your heart to beat irregularly. Your heart was regulated on this med. I don’t know your condition but you should have voiced this concern to the doctor. I take BP meds too. Try getting another opinion. It is your right to get an another opinion. Any doctor will tell you that. Please, reconsider. It is dangerous to go off that med. I have never had joint pain from taking a med but everyone is different and can have various side effect from any med that’s why you should tell your doctor. You may need another type of med because there are so many out there for high blood pressure. Hope this helps
Edit. If you took another one and still have the same feelings, them you may have another problem not even associated with high blood pressure or the med. Consult and Orthopedic doc. He may have an answer for you. You shouldn’t have to suffer such pain. I feel so bad for you. I really hope you can find out what the problem is, in the meantime, seek out another professional for your own sake. I wish you good health. Be blessed
