High blood pressure is nothing to fool around with, they don’t call it the silent killer for nothing. No home remedy is worth dying for.
Tell her to get her *ss to the hospital. A stroke is not a pleasant thing – worse than killing you – it leaves you debilitated.
Exercise is very effective in lower bp – but she should not exercise while her bp is really high. Tell her to avoid salt, fast foods and restaurant foods which are all loaded with sodium. Sodium can raise blood pressure. Also avoid alcohol.
I’ve had this happen to me. Went to the ER, sat there for three hours unattended while my pressure went down, then went home, never having seen anybody. I would go there only as a last resort.
Pressure going down slowly is only better in certain situations. Ex: CVA. Anything above 140 systolic is high & (depending on lifestyle factors like weight, etc.) should be treated. If she became short of breath (SOB) as well, there could be something else going on. CHF can cause SOB & hypertension (HTN)…or high blood pressure. But not knowing any history, I’d say it comes down to going to the ER just to be certain. They can do a CXR to see if an effusion or infiltrate is causing the SOB & they can treat her HTN as needed. Advise her to go to the ER; but I’d go with her so you know she is treated. And by the way, if she’s having chest pain or has a history of MI (heart attack) tell her to pop four baby aspirin (81 mg) before going to the ER!!!
There isn’t a quick fix, but diet, supplements and lifestyle changes are more effective (and less damaging) than pharmaceuticals.
Supplements:
Calcium, Magnesium, Garlic, L Carnitine, L glutamic acid, L glutamine, Selenium, Co Q10, EFAs (flaxseed oil) Vitamin C, Lecithin granules and Vitamin E.
A strict salt-free diet is essential, and animal fats (meat and dairy) must be avoided. Broiled white fish and skinless chicken may be consumed in moderation only. Primary protein sources should be from vegetables, grains and legumes.
She should avoid all alcohol, caffeine and tobacco.
But the most important thing for your mom to do is to get regular exercise, and keep her weight down.
she needs to try and change her medicine. call her doctor that prescribed it and ask them to change it. also she should try taking flaxseed, omega three. do some research on foods that will be good for her blood pressure. (potassium, banannas)
I have tried nearly everything including the pharmaceuticals on the market. But I finally found something that works. Seven+ is a fairly new product on the market (1 Year) And it has helped everyone I have spoke to of it. It was designed for a dieing father who had liver failure. Quite a story, Anyway it contains some of the rarest botanical fruits to be found, Acai, Gac, Goji, Seabuckthorn, Fucoidan, this is the active ingredient for swelling and pain, It is full of Omegas 3,6,7 and 9, Anti Oxidents, and is helping folks with High blood pressure, diabetes, ulcers, the list is long. There are more than a few pro Athletes endorsing it, and you can actually get a Free 7 day sample at this site…www.brolinforexfuze.iexfuze.net It’s well worth your time, just click on the seven day challenge.
