Lifestyle changes can help you control and prevent high blood pressure — even if you’re taking blood pressure medication. Here’s what you can do:
* Eat healthy foods. Try the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet, which emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy foods. Get plenty of potassium, which can help prevent and control high blood pressure. Eat less saturated fat and total fat. Limit the amount of sodium in your diet. Although 2,400 milligrams (mg) of sodium a day is the current limit for otherwise healthy adults, limiting sodium intake to 1,500 mg a day will have a more dramatic effect on your blood pressure.
* Maintain a healthy weight. If you’re overweight, losing even 5 pounds can lower your blood pressure.
* Increase physical activity. Regular physical activity can help lower your blood pressure and keep your weight under control. Strive for at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
* Limit alcohol. Even if you’re healthy, alcohol can raise your blood pressure. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation — up to one drink a day for women, two drinks a day for men.
* Don’t smoke. Tobacco injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. If you smoke, ask your doctor to help you quit.
* Manage stress. Reduce stress as much as possible. Practice healthy coping techniques, such as muscle relaxation and deep breathing. Getting plenty of sleep can help, too.
* Practice slow, deep breathing. Do it on your own or try device-guided paced breathing. There are many causes of high blood pressure so identifying what could be causing yours is the first thing you need to do and try and rectify the problem.
Are you stressed easy? Try different ways of coping and relaxing.
Are you eating too much acidic food or dehydrated? Your body needs to be slightly alkaline, cut down on meat, bread, sugar, cereals, rice and potatoes, eat more fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water.

We also are lacking the minerals we need for our bodies to function properly. The soils are depleted of them so even if we eat good food it doesn`t contain enough nutrients to maintain good health. Supplementing the diet is the only way to make sure we are getting enough.
The only way to reduce high blood pressure is to get your weight down to a normal range, exercise a minimum of 30 minutes daily – enough to keep your heart rate elevated for 30 minutes (walking is easiest – start slow then gradually increase your distance and pace) and eating a healthy diet of fresh fruits and vegetables (both raw and cooked), small amounts of chicken or fish, skim milk and yogurt, whole grain breads and cereals and lots of water. All I can add,is to try some deep breathing, as well. Breathe in to the count of four, breathe out to the count of 8. The Dash diet i is recommended, which will reduce your sodium intake, or use herbs to flavor,instead of salt. If you have a at home B/P monitor you can monitor and see you own progress
Change of life style, reduced salt in food, meditation, and long gentle strolls.
There are things you can do, diet and exercise, eat healthily, get fit, etc., but if it’s really high – and it is for some people (like me) – no fault of my own – you need some meds. Work with your Doctor – try to improve your diet, get fit, but if it’s not working, you’re going to need some meds. There’s no shame in it, that’s just your body’s chemistry. Avoid it if you can, but accept it if you must.
The natural way to help blood pressure,not exactly cure it ,is to learn to be placid and to relax as much as possible.
