Stopping blood pressure medications?
am 46 , I am 153(I use to be 190) I am 6.2. I always had high blood pressure(since the age of 16) and it was always emotional high blood pressure. I started taking BP medication about 8 years ago. Now I am on 2 medications Coreg 12.5 per day & Benicar 40mg per day. I switched to a Fruitarian Rwafoodist diet and my readings got mucfh better. Last week my readings dropped to 100/62. At work I had an icident and the paramedics came. My doctor told me to stop both medications right away and resume when my BP is normal. Do I really need to resume? What are my options here? Thanks
It has been 4 days and my BP average 115/82(without meds).
I have been on my Fruitarian-Rawfoodist diet for about 1 year 1/2
I have no cardio problem except that I am emotional that’s why Coreg
In case my BP comes back to normal /bordeline range I was thinking going for hawthorn berries?
PS: I almost got into a cardio arrest because of those 2 meds at work. So plz telling me to talk to my doc first won’t improve things. My diet profile has totally changed as well as my weight . I use to be 190 when I started the treatment.

For some reason, doctors now believe 82 is now too high. It used to be the perfect range of blood pressure. They prefer you to be under 80, but I have yet to hear a good reason why.
Your stats are nearly perfect. It certainly would not hurt to have a heart to heart with your doctor about why he wants you back on medication.
The foods you eat have a direct impact on your health, especially blood pressure. The real danger here is when your blood pressure gets too low, which is what it sounds like happened, although you did not give specifics. You need to find out why.
We do not know your health history the way your doctor does and cannot give medical advice in a forum. We can only advice the best course of action to take.
Have you tried the DASH diet to control your blood pressure without medication?

It almost sounds like your high blood pressure is because of anxiety rather than cardiac issues. With your new diet and weight loss, your body probably doesn’t need those BP meds….Is the doctor that treated you the ER doc or your primary doc? You should contact your primary doctor and suggest a diffferent regimen. Coreg is a "strong" beta blocker. Suggest maybe lopressor once a day with parameters, like you only take it in the morning if your blood pressure is higher than….also, maybe some Xanax for your "emotional" times. I am not trying to prescribe your meds to you, but I am a cardiac nurse and I see this stuff all the time. What you are most likely feeling when you "go into cardiac arrest" is your blood pressure is dropping too low and your getting lightheaded, dizzy, passing out, etc…Hope this helps!!
well i am not doctor but rule of thumb is when you take bp medications you can never stop. if you dnt’ like your doctor i would change i would also go to heart specialist first and then find you a good doctor or hve one someone know sthat is good. you obviously do not have good doctor but you can’t just stop medications it would proabbly kill you. its not to chance this stuff its very serious. you can have heart attack or stroke because of blood pressure. talk to a new person and let them know what you are doing diet wise. this should help and be sure and write down all the pressures you have also if its hereditary be careful not to stop i would ask all those questions cause stoppoing is not option i know for sure.
Prescription medication should be avoided if possible as it is really a poison that our bodies reject and that is why you get side effects such as headaches, fatigue, drowsiness, coughing and lots of others that are sometimes much worse.
Hawthorn, fish oil, garlic oil, apple cider vinegar and lots of other natural remedies that you can find in a web search for "high blood pressure" + "natural remedies" all help. Each natural remedy helps a bit and you may have to take several. In general you get no side effects from natural medication. If you take Coenzyme Q10 you can not mix it with Warfarin as those two medications clash and are incompatible.
Your BP seems to have improved a lot since you improved your diet and perhaps you don’t really need any medication. High BP means over 140/90. Whilst 120/80 is regarded as normal and acceptable 110/70 is much better and 100/60 is better still and 90/60 is even better. Below 90/60 could be low BP.
