My mother is in her 60s. She has high blood pressure, and is taking medication for that (Lisinopril, a generic for Prinivil). She also has been having sporadic light-headedness and dizzy spells. Sometimes it’s when she wakes up, sometimes it’s after work at 6pm– the timing is random, whether or not she eats anything. Generally she doesn’t eat breakfast or much at all during the day (she had a Twinkie for today’s breakfast, for instance). She’s also taking medication for dizziness– Hydrochlorothiazise, a generic for Oretic/Esidrix that, randomly enough, says it may cause dizziness on the bottle. Her dizziness is so bad that she doesn’t want to drive, for fear of passing out. She started taking the dizziness pills on Wednesday, the blood pressure pills on Thursday.
The doctor said her blood pressure medication might take about two weeks to start working properly. Until then, I figure that whatever the cause, whether it’s her blood pressure or the medication, similar home remedies would work to help her get over the light-headedness, right? Does anyone have any recommendations of food or actions to take that could help my mother get over her light-headedness and dizzy spells until her blood-pressure medication starts working?
I’ve had high blood pressure since I was 13 …No reason why, just labeled it as hypertension.. Well about 3 months ago I started going to the chiropractor for dizziness (heaven sent.. almost completely cured the dizziness) …. I decided to check my blood pressure & yesterday it was 88/69 … I was very surprised because it’s usually 150/80 or 90 later in the day… Could this chiropractic care be reducing my blood pressure?
I’ve been checking it regularly … it’s ranged from 88/69 – 130/83. 130/85 was right before I went to bed right before I usually take my medicine. So when I got up I checked it again it was 122/87 but yet when i just checked it .. 3 hours later it is 89/77.
My son is only 21 months old and per his visit at the pediatric cardiologist he thinks that the leak has gone from mild to moderate since his last check and recommends starting him on a blood pressure medication 3x per day I think its called something like cardthacan or something (not sure) but his blood pressure is fine 70/48 when we were there and I dont think I want him on meds 3x per day at not even 2 yrs old, the DR says this is to dilate blood vessels and minimize the leak back into the ventricle…I just wondered if anyone has any history or thoughts on this plan of treatment? Thanks in advance.
A concerned confused mom
….a big concern is that the meds can cause chronic cough and lowers blood pressure which can cause dizziness pr passing out…thats a little scary for a one year old
I have been perscribed lisinopril for high blood pressure, and it is only 10 mg tablets and on the container it says that it may cause dizziness and not to drive a car or operate machinery until you become familiar with its effects. I work a job that involves operating machinery.
Please can someone tell me, I have tried asking before but got no reply that actually told me how it happens?
If you already have Low Blood Pressure, but in a healthy way so you get no symptoms. Then when you get stressed or upset you suddenly get symptoms for a while, how does that work, what does the stress do to make the symptoms start.
When I say symptoms I mean, light-headedness, dizziness, weakness and fainting.
What is the best blood pressure medication with the least side effects ? I have tried Linsinopril, Diovan (valsartan),
Atenolol, Altace. They all bring my blood pressure down some, except for Diovan. It doesnt. The rest have similar side effects. Dizziness, incoherent, lack of energy.
Thank you for your response. I am at risk of a stroke each day.
I am just curious because I am currently being monitored for HBP and I asked my doctor about symptoms because every where I look it is called the "silent killer", yet some ppl say nosebleeds, floaters, dizziness, lightedness etc can be symptoms. What has anyone else experienced as symptoms of HBP.
Today I found out that my blood pressure is low, 60/80
What are some causes of low blood pressure?
And how can I bring my blood pressure back up to normal?
no you read it correctly its 60/80
sorry that is 80/60, i was a little confused
I would like to add that this low blood pressure is accompanied by dizziness, especially upon standing up, fatigue, and other feelings of weakness.
I am taking a high blood pressure medication, and it seems/appears that since I have been taking the medication I have had headaches all over, dizziness/light headedness, numbness in parts my face, as well as a stiff neck. These symptoms arent consisently there, maybe 1-2 times a day for an hour or so. Can a high blood pressure medication cause such or is this some unrelated condition that I should seek out?
