My cat, the love of my life, is not doing well and I have to make the horrible decision of whether to put her down or not.

She’s old. Her age is unknown (adopted 2 yrs ago) but it’s estimated to be around 14. She has kidney failure and has been receiving treatment for about 9 months. The kidneys are really bad and the treatment has not “fixed” it but it has been effective in the sense that kidneys have been stable.

Problem: about two weeks ago, her right eye started getting bloody. The doctors said it’s due to high blood pressure. After all the treatments, the eye got worse and now my poor baby has developed glaucoma. The blood pressure came down a little but it’s still high.

Decision

Option 1: Removing the eye: given her physical condition, her chances of surviving the surgery/recovery are 50/50 %.
Her vet said she may have about six months to live after the surgery.
Option 2: Putting her to sleep.

I cant decide. Please help, SOON.
What makes it hard for me is that she’s still eating and enjoys her tummy rubs and purrs when I hug her. If she was in a lot of pain she would stop eating and go hide is some corner….I keep asking what if she were to live another year or more if I do the surgery? Kindney failure is actually not painful; it’s more like a silent killer. It’s just the surgery may have complications. But it may not. I just don’t know what to do.
I have got 4 opinions. Glaucoma in cats is not treatable like it is in humans especially when the cat is already blind (mine was blind when I adopted her). The eye has to come out because it’s pain if it doesn’t. So it’s either risk the surgery or let her go.
My problems is that I do know if SHE is ready to leave. I’m willing to do whatever she wants only if she could talk and tell me. I would never keep her alive if she is suffering and I know she would tell me if she was ready to go. I don’t she’s ready to go yet because she’s eating, purring, using her litter box…it’s just that the outcome of surgery may not be good.
Oops, I meant "my problem is that I DON’T know if she is ready to leave"…

My mother was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma a few weeks ago, she has an 11.6 centimeter mass on her left kidney. She was hospitalized last weekend because they gave her morphine for pain, it dropped her blood pressure extemely low. That is when we found out the cancer had spread to other organs (liver, pancreas, lymph nodes and stomach) the doctors said she would only make it a few weeks to a month. That is when I looked into this cancer center, her insurance has been approved and they want to schedule her flight asap. I just want to know if anyone out there has had good results with ctca? I have a friend who goes with her mother who had breast cancer metasis to her liver and bone who goes to ctca and she said they were great. Are they as wonderful as my friends mom says?
My mom is also doing better now, she’s home from the hospital and she’s not as weeks and she’s eating . My mom says she’s ready to fight this.

I have gout and high blood pressure. I take Diova 160/25 and Norvasec for BP and Alopurinol for gout. I get swelling in the legs. My doctors can’t fix this problem. When they change the drugs or doze my blood pressure goes up and I get gout attack….anyone out there who has my problem?

I am suffering from high blood sugar and hypertension. My 2 doctors gave me their prescriptions. For high blood sugar, metformin and for high blood pressure, Filodepine with metoprolol. Reading the inserts in both, i discovered that one is not to be taken with the other. I am confused and sometimes refuse to drink both at the same time. Please advise.

My friend is in hospital with all of the above. How much of a chance does he have? His collesterol is through the roof, Sugar is 400, pressure high, pancreas and Gall bladder swollen. He is in extreme pain. The doctors have thus far done MRI, EKG, Cat Scan. He is in a hospital in Maryland USA.

doctors tells us that hypertension is bad, and they have medication treatments, but they dont tell the side effects or alternative ways of treating hypertnesion

went to the doctors today to see about my pleurisy which i dont have …have really hig blood pressure for my age so he prescribed tramadon and prednisone for my lung inflamation is this safe ?

I already know that a high fiber, low sodium, and low fat diet lowers your blood pressure. DUH. What I can’t seem to find is the reasons these things are true. I’m writing a paper on blood pressure and I’ve found so many great sources, but not one of them tells me the actual physiological reasons that this type of diet lowers blood pressure. If anyone could point me to some sources on this I would really appreciate it. Any doctors out there??? : )

I have no insurance and can’t afford the crazy money pit of doctors and perscriptions anymore. there must be a way for me to manage my hypertension and anxiety myself.
I am not over weight and exercise regularly. I am 42 years old and have always been in good physical condition. I don’t eat alot of salt at all.
I know about exercise and diet. Again, does anyone know of a homeopathic treatment?
