Hi guys please let me know what are the general method to treat high blood pressure?

I went to a local minor-emergency clinic (not my primary physician who normally handles my blood pressure treatment–it was in the evening and I was feeling really crummy) last night for a bad cold that I had for about a week, started out like a sinus/allergy thing but the last few days turned into a sneezing and coughing up yellow mucus type of event, so I went for an exam and they said I had a case of bronchitis.

Was prescribed albuterol inhaler for the bronchitis, but now I read on the internet that maybe sometimes it’s not best to take these two drugs together? Atenolol is for high blood pressure in my case. I gave my list of medications to the doctor I saw last night, any chance they could have overlooked that? Or is it common and effective to take these two drugs together?

I need to be treated for high blood pressure..So where can i go for help

What sphygmomanometer reading indicates that an individual has high blood pressure?

Treatment for hypertensio?

The condition stems from many years of high blood pressure. I am 55 and hope this doesn’t lead to dialisys.

What can be used to treat hemorrhoids when you can’t use preparation H because of high blood pressure, etc.?

My cat, the love of my life, is not doing well and I have to make the horrible decision of whether to put her down or not.

She’s old. Her age is unknown (adopted 2 yrs ago) but it’s estimated to be around 14. She has kidney failure and has been receiving treatment for about 9 months. The kidneys are really bad and the treatment has not “fixed” it but it has been effective in the sense that kidneys have been stable.

Problem: about two weeks ago, her right eye started getting bloody. The doctors said it’s due to high blood pressure. After all the treatments, the eye got worse and now my poor baby has developed glaucoma. The blood pressure came down a little but it’s still high.

Decision

Option 1: Removing the eye: given her physical condition, her chances of surviving the surgery/recovery are 50/50 %.
Her vet said she may have about six months to live after the surgery.
Option 2: Putting her to sleep.

I cant decide. Please help, SOON.
What makes it hard for me is that she’s still eating and enjoys her tummy rubs and purrs when I hug her. If she was in a lot of pain she would stop eating and go hide is some corner….I keep asking what if she were to live another year or more if I do the surgery? Kindney failure is actually not painful; it’s more like a silent killer. It’s just the surgery may have complications. But it may not. I just don’t know what to do.
I have got 4 opinions. Glaucoma in cats is not treatable like it is in humans especially when the cat is already blind (mine was blind when I adopted her). The eye has to come out because it’s pain if it doesn’t. So it’s either risk the surgery or let her go.
My problems is that I do know if SHE is ready to leave. I’m willing to do whatever she wants only if she could talk and tell me. I would never keep her alive if she is suffering and I know she would tell me if she was ready to go. I don’t she’s ready to go yet because she’s eating, purring, using her litter box…it’s just that the outcome of surgery may not be good.
Oops, I meant "my problem is that I DON’T know if she is ready to leave"…

First of all I NEVER go to the doctor but I get a routine physical each year. Last December 4th I had been sick for 2 weeks with a bad cough and bronchitis-like symptoms. I finally was told go to doctor by my concerned employer because they felt there might be MOLD in our office. I went that very day to my DR. of two years and he did chest xray and prescribed antibiotic. That treatment worked and I also found there was no MOLD. More than a week later the DR. contacted me to come in for treatment of high blood pressure recorded during the Dec 4 visit. By the time I was called I was recovered and did not have high BP and declined to see the DR. for this again. He wrote on Feb. 18th he had discharged me as his patient due to ‘non-compliance’. I ask you, why did he not treat the high blood pressure the moment I was in distress???? And why dismiss me now, as I do NOT have High BP.
I ran out of room on the first detail. To answer the question I know I do NOT have HP because my husband does and we both monitor our BP. I do it with a separate cuff to encourage him. That is coincidental to my situation too and I wanted to add it. My husband’s BP is 100% under control through medication due to his work, which like my employer require yearly physical. Thanks.
As I said, this DR. did not even address my BP at time of visit. Where was the concern then? I was taking 3 different OTC medicatations: Dayquil, Nyquil, Robitussin by the time I was seen and those were making me sick at my stomach and I coudnt take it anymore. Thanks.
Marco, you are so right. And this non-compliance issue is my concern too. Will I be able to find another physician? This whole situation is crazy. I mean I didn’t accuse him of anything or ask questions until the ‘non-compliance’ issue came up. I didn’t even know what non-compliance was and had to ask. Thanks.
Mom, I declined the offer to return is what happened and it was over the phone where the nurse called me later. I guess I should have gone, in hindsight, and would have if I reazlied he could dismiss me. It all seems very unfortunate. Thanks.

My mom had caught with "Cirrhosis of the Liver" back in 2000. It got diagnosed in 2002 when she started feeling tired, no appetite, swollen feet, blue marks on skin and abdominal pain. Doctors also told us that she has "Hepatitis C". We started her treatment with "Roferon 3mu". After six months she got better. We found last year that her "Cirrhosis of the Liver" problem is again disturbing her health. We took her for blood test but there were no detections of "Hepatitis" anymore. Doctor told us that her liver is damaged and it is in the "De-compensated Stage". It can not be reversed but it can be stopped to go further. Now she has swollen feet again, watter in abdomen, blue marks on lower legs, itching skin, minor fever, a little high blood pressure but she is not a Diabetic. Her last test results were these. (i called her home to get these readings. if you find any trouble you can e-mail for this.)

I have gout and high blood pressure. I take Diova 160/25 and Norvasec for BP and Alopurinol for gout. I get swelling in the legs. My doctors can’t fix this problem. When they change the drugs or doze my blood pressure goes up and I get gout attack….anyone out there who has my problem?

I am suffering from high blood sugar and hypertension. My 2 doctors gave me their prescriptions. For high blood sugar, metformin and for high blood pressure, Filodepine with metoprolol. Reading the inserts in both, i discovered that one is not to be taken with the other. I am confused and sometimes refuse to drink both at the same time. Please advise.

I have had amenorrhea(lack of period) for about a year and a half. I have read that HGH (human growth hormone) treatments can help with a wide variety of health issues ie. high blood pressure, bone density, menstrual cycles, hair skin and nails. I was wondering if anyone new a little more first hand about the possibility of using HGH as a treatment.

If you have been on this medication for treatment of high blood pressure, how long will the medication stay in your system if you stop taking it?

I am patient of high blood pressure for the last 22 years and now it has been observed that i have cyst in my left kidney..I shall thank , if someone can suggest the remedy either nature cure or ayurvedic or homeopath and suggest good diet to keep kidneys healthy..I am pure veg no drink, no smoke.

I have an 18 yo cat. He has serious hyperthyroid, high blood pressure, arthritis, and his vision is bad. His kidneys are OK but on the downward slide, and his liver is iffy.

Every time I go to the vet they say, "Well, he’s not getting better. Let’s adjust his medications, and bring him back in 3 weeks–plus I’d like to add another medication." These visits and tests run me close to 0, and of course they never have a clue what the medications cost. I’ve been through this several times now.

Well, he’s not going to get "better"–he’s 18! What will all these adjustments really achieve, besides costing a fortune and denying me the chance to really deal psychologically with the fact that my cat is slowly dying. But they only write the prescriptions for a few weeks at a time, so I have to go back.

Can I/should I say I don’t want to do any more blood panels, and insist they just renew the prescriptions he’s on for some reasonable period like 6 months?
How can I say this? His quality of life is still OK, I just want to pick a medication level and stick with that until it’s time to put him down, and just monitor things like his weight to see how it’s working.
I didn’t say I wanted to put him down, I said his quality of life is OK now. But they’re talking long-term treatments on a cat who doesn’t have a long-term ahead. His numbers don’t have to be perfect if he’s not going to live long enough for it to matter.

A 70 year elderly male is not able to breathe properly and he is coughing and severe cold and he is not able to take his food properly and he is having high blood pressure but no sugar . Kindly advice what will be problem and what is the solution for this problem in detail. Is it a cause of worry or it is an ordinary problem which can be cured. The ECG is normal but at times it is erratic.

I know someone who is experiencing the following symptons: fainting, dizzyness, blurred vision. He fainted 3 times for the last 10 days. He can’t sleep well. He said when he fainted the first time, he felt everything shrink. He couldn’t see welll after the first time he fainted. It’s not because he’s got myopia cuz he doesnt! He’s constantly dizzy. He was diagonosed with high blood pressure several years ago. Anyways I wonder how long it takes the Warden to approve and is there something I can do to rush them.?Call the lawyer or what? because he needs help immediately and Im afraid his symptoms are gonna get worse!
please dont be judgemental and think "he’s got what he deserved." He’s in a low security jail.
He has requested to see medical help. He’s jus afraid the the staff has neglected his application

I also have high blood pressure and thyroid trouble. my sysmptoms are leg pain and daytime sleepiness. I had a sleep study done and was told that I have the Fibromyalgia. I am on meds for depression , highblood pressure and thyroid. I already take the zanaflex and ultracet and voltarin. Along with klopin wellbutrin synthroid and topral xl and a baby asprin. What else can be done? What type of dr should I go to to have this treated? Any help would be great.

I am 55 and have been under treatment for an erratic heartbeat since I was in my late 20’s. However, the treatment I’m presently receiving – 320 mg. of Inderal per day plus 1.5 mg of Xanax – is only partially effective. I am wondering if there might be a more effective treatment available to me. The condition doesn’t bother me much when I am resting or relaxed. Though it seems to be triggered mostly by my emotions, I have noticed that more and more it flares up under physical strain as well. I seriously doubt if I could endure a stress test simply because the fear of such a test would probably trigger an episode before they could even start it. I’ve never had any chest pains or any other symptoms of heart disease. I am also being treated for mildly high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and an anxiety disorder. What bothers me most is the degree to which I am affected psychologically by all this. It puts a crimp in my lifestyle and keeps me from doing things that I might ……
otherwise do. Oh, and by "erratic heartbeat", I am not alking about a rapid or racing heart. I am talking about a condition where the heart seems yo lose its rythm and creates a sensation of having a butterfly lose inside my chest. Also, I would prefer that only qualified medical personnel answer this question. Thanks.

I gave birth 2 months ago and had high blood pressure and 1+ protein in urine past my 28th week.

The problem now is that the high blood pressure actually CAME BACK 2 weeks after birth (didn’t have before birth). I almost was admitted in the hospital but it went down to 140/90 and is staying near that even with the 2 meds im taking. One month ago my protein in my urine was "trace" and now it’s +1!!! I also have a urinary tract infectino that has been untreated for the past 3 months because of the baby and breastfeeding (whcih i now gave up)
My questions are :
1) is it my pressure causing this or the urinary infection ?
2) how concerned should i be?
3) is it reversable and what are the treatments?

and yes im going to teh doc on tuesday, just worried and don’t like waiting :-(

I just looked it up since I got off the phone with my mom who has been managing her high blood pressure naturally for a couple of years. She said it really worked for her when she tried it. I’ve seen hbp questions here, and never run into a beet juice answer. I was wondering if others have tried it, or if it is still fairly new and just breaking into the high blood pressure treatment news? I’m glad she discovered it, but I’m wondering why I hadn’t heard about it before this.
