I know there are a lot of options, I have insurance, but I’m trying to anticipate the impact on my budget! What do you pay for the meds? Do you know what they cost?

Lifestyle change is not an option for treatment. Not overweight, good diet, gym workout daily, treadmill 4+ miles daily, cholesterol, sodium, potassium levels fine. It’s genetic, so meds are the option. I’m averaging 148/100, peaking at 168/110.

Bums me out because I’m been 115/70 forever. This symptoms just started a couple of months ago but I did not see a doc until last week. High bp never occurred to me!

I also have high blood pressure and thyroid trouble. my sysmptoms are leg pain and daytime sleepiness. I had a sleep study done and was told that I have the Fibromyalgia. I am on meds for depression , highblood pressure and thyroid. I already take the zanaflex and ultracet and voltarin. Along with klopin wellbutrin synthroid and topral xl and a baby asprin. What else can be done? What type of dr should I go to to have this treated? Any help would be great.

I gave birth 2 months ago and had high blood pressure and 1+ protein in urine past my 28th week.

The problem now is that the high blood pressure actually CAME BACK 2 weeks after birth (didn’t have before birth). I almost was admitted in the hospital but it went down to 140/90 and is staying near that even with the 2 meds im taking. One month ago my protein in my urine was "trace" and now it’s +1!!! I also have a urinary tract infectino that has been untreated for the past 3 months because of the baby and breastfeeding (whcih i now gave up)
My questions are :
1) is it my pressure causing this or the urinary infection ?
2) how concerned should i be?
3) is it reversable and what are the treatments?

and yes im going to teh doc on tuesday, just worried and don’t like waiting :-(

am 46 , I am 153(I use to be 190) I am 6.2. I always had high blood pressure(since the age of 16) and it was always emotional high blood pressure. I started taking BP medication about 8 years ago. Now I am on 2 medications Coreg 12.5 per day & Benicar 40mg per day. I switched to a Fruitarian Rwafoodist diet and my readings got mucfh better. Last week my readings dropped to 100/62. At work I had an icident and the paramedics came. My doctor told me to stop both medications right away and resume when my BP is normal. Do I really need to resume? What are my options here? Thanks
It has been 4 days and my BP average 115/82(without meds).
I have been on my Fruitarian-Rawfoodist diet for about 1 year 1/2

I have no cardio problem except that I am emotional that’s why Coreg
In case my BP comes back to normal /bordeline range I was thinking going for hawthorn berries?

PS: I almost got into a cardio arrest because of those 2 meds at work. So plz telling me to talk to my doc first won’t improve things. My diet profile has totally changed as well as my weight . I use to be 190 when I started the treatment.

am 45. Fruitarian-Rawfoodist , 150 for 6.2. I was on 2 blood pressure medications for a few years but because of my diet & weight loss , my blood pressure dropped to 100/65 and I almost passed out. I was told to stop the medications then resume when it get to 140/80. I don’t wish to resume my meds but I would like to try an alternative treatment. I purchased some hawthorn berry pills. So far it has reduce my heart beats from 95 to 80 but in order to reduce my BP how many should I take? I only take 1 per day. My BP is now between 125/83 to 145/98 during the day. Thanks

My GF’s mom was diagnosed last week with aortic dissection type B. She was sebt to ER followed by admittance to hosital for 4 days. They just gave her blood pressure treatment and pain killers. They told her to go home two days ago but then she is still in pain. The pain comes every 4 hours right befroe she has to take her meds. It goes away after 4 hours then comes back again. Her BP rises and drops throughout the day with highest levels at when the pain comes back. How long will these periods of pain last? She would get fevers late at night accompanied by sharp pains and this is very worrysome. How long will these pain/fever episodes last?

I would think the answer is yes, but my MD wants to raise my BP meds. I have moderate sleep apnea, and just started a treatment program.

Is a raw vegan diet healthful over a long period of time, especially with diabetes and high blood pressure? I am trying to switch to a raw vegan diet, but my dietitian insists it is not healthful. Has anybody here tried it long-term, or know anybody who has? I’m wanting to lose a lot of weight, and I’ve been making a lot of salads, with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, green bell peppers, celery, onions, carrots … and then I pour on a bunch of vinegar and lemon juice. It’s tasty, nutritious, and very low-calorie. It seems to be working for me, but my dietitian isn’t happy. And I didn’t even tell you what my primary care physician thinks about my decision to quit all my diabetes and blood pressure medications and just rely on a raw vegan diet instead of the meds … except that I’m going to have to find another primary care physician.

My husband has been on Lisinopril for a couple of years. They cut him down to 1/2 a dose after he suffered dry cough, loss of Libido and joint pain. We have his BP under control with supplements of Omega 3, flax oil, EPA, TMG etc. We hope that he will come off of the meds very soon. My question is, how soon should the side effects subside?

I am looking for natural ways to lower blood pressure besides excercise. I know there are supplements and other things besides drugs.

I am not looking for an easy way out. I am looking for alternative ways to lower my blood pressure besides being put on medication. It does not mean I am not willing to diet and it does not mean that I don’t excercise. It means that I don’t want to be on hbp meds.
