I was recently diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma and sometime in the near future I’ll be meeting with an oncologist and starting treatment. I want to quit smoking to help my situation, but I don’t know the best way to go about it. Quitting cold turkey would obviously be a good idea, but I honestly don’t think I’m capable of doing that. I’ve used patches successfully before, but it took a matter of months to quit that way. I’m not very familiar with nicotine gum, prescription stop-smoking aids, or anything else that may be out there. I’d like to quit a.s.a.p. to avoid becoming sicker during treatment. I’m also concerned about interactions between a stop-smoking aid and chemo/radiation therapy, if my method of quitting did need to take place while I was being treated. Any suggestions or info would mean a lot…

Do you guys know like some sort of sweets or something to use if you want to stop smoking instead of using nicotine patch?
I’ve been smoking for over 25 years. I smoke maybe 4 or 5 cigs a day, and I’ve stopped for 3-4 months at a time. But when the nicotine fit hits me, I can’t deal and start smoking again. What can I do?
I have been trying to quit smoking for the last three months. But whenever I’m not very busy doing something I have the erge to smoke. Also, when I at work, some of my co worker know that I am trying to quit and they make things worse because that start asking whether I have had a cigarrette. The fact that they even mentioned it makes me want a cigarette, so I end of lapsing. I don’t want to use the patch or any drugs that help to stop smoking. And I really don’t crave the nicotine. It’s really a habit. For instance, when I get in the car, I am use to lighting a cigarrette. So, I do. I’ve tried chewing gum and that works only a short while. To add on, I am trying to loose weight as well. One day, I did ok, but I craved chocolate and sugar all day long. I ate all day long, too. What else can I do? Not to mention, I have asthma, as well.
I have this bad habit now for almost 10 years and I really want to quit smoking, because of the effects nicotine has. What is the best way? Should I set up a time line? I smoke about a pack of cigarettes a day and want to stop as quick as possible.
I know it is a bad habit, and I want to stop, But it is hard, anyone know a good way to stop smoking? (Besides nicotine gum, patches, etc.)
Steph23, I am not religious, lol.
