I am 37 weeks pregnant and was in labor and delivery 3 days ago due to elevated blood pressure and swelling of my hands, feet, and face and also dizziness. Nurses were able to get my blood pressure down by having me lay on my left side. I was instructed to go home and save all my urine for 24 hours and return it to the lab to be checked for protein in my urine. I was back in the doctor’s office today and was advised the protein level in my urine was way too high – was five times more than the normal amount. Since my blood pressure was normal today, I was advised that they would not be inducing labor and would just keep a close eye on me. Blood tests were performed as well and that came back okay. I am also 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I am still experiencing the dizziness and swelling. From what I know, delivering the baby is the only way to cure pre-eclampsia. But they are saying I don’t have it because my blood pressure was fine today, but what about the protein in my urine?
I believe my highest BP was 164/98 and my lowest reading has been 134/78
Hi All, Recently, my sister during her first pregnancy has faced a pre-eclampsia during her third trimester. The baby had been pre-delivered and put in incubator from then. We all expected that after her pregnancy, the preeclampsia symptoms would disappear.
But unfortunately, certain symptoms still persists till date for her. The symptoms include, not able to urinate in enough amounts and Blood Pressure (it’s been fluctuating a little high now and then and most of the times it is close to normal).
It’s been a week since my sister had pre-delivered.
Can someone, please tell me about postpartum preeclampsia? whether it is dangerous or can be cured 100%? How long will it take for her to recover? Will there be any danger to my sister’s life?
These are few of the questions which are bothering me since few days and i thought of coming up to you all for an answer.
Please suggest your experiences (if there are any) or any knowledge you have on the same.
Thank you all in advance and i do appreciate your reply.
I have a one year old little boy born September 18 08. I developed pre-eclmapsia around 29 weeks (ish) he had to be delivered early (35 wks) by emergency c-section because my blood pressure was so high. He was born completely developed just didnt know how to suck so stayed in NICU for a couple of weeks to learn the bottle. I have a family history of high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia. Im certain the same will happen with this pregnancy. I know the only cure to this is delivering the baby. My question is, is there any medication that I could take once it comes on to keep my blood pressure down so this baby can stay in longer. Or is there any cases where they do not have to deliver early? I’m worried sick about it.
Yes it is definitely a horrible way to have to go thru pregnancy. I was so sick "morning sickness" all day every day all 8 months and lost 50 lbs after is was all said and done. I just found out I am pregnant like and hour ago so I will definitely be making a DR. appt.
I wanted to keep him in longer but it was unbearable the headache was the worst pain..he was unresponsive too so they had no choice.
Hi there! I had high blood pressure before I got pregnant and all through my pregnancy and I ended up with pre-eclampsia and was induced early. I had to have my gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago and my milk supply never came back like it was coming before surgery. Even pumping every hour I can only get out 2 or 3 ounces. So I have to supplement with formula now
Now at 2 months my blood pressure is still high and my doctor wants to put me on blood pressure medicine. But that means I would have to stop breastfeeding all together at 2 months
as that medicine is not good to pass on to baby. My doctor says that my BP is so high it could pose a risk to me sometime in the near future, im only 24. I dont want to stop yet though, I had planned on breastfeeding for a while. And I feel incredibly guilty even if he only gets a little everyday, at least he is getting something right? Should I stop all together and take the medicine?
thanks for your opinion
Its called Micardis
I had pre eclampsia with my 1st pregnancy, they didnt find it till like the last 3 weeks or my pregnancy an i had nothing for it just being monitored. I am pregnant again and i am only 26weeks and i have been having the blurring vision and headaches and the all over not feeling well.
