I inherited high BP from both of my parents, but do not like what the BP meds do to me…I tried several for years, none of them worked and the side affects were terrible.
I now take garlic pills (or cook with fresh garlic) and a habanero tincture, which my herbalist taught me to make at home. I also put a teaspoon of fresh ground cinnamon in yogurt daily. I’m happy to say that I no longer have high BP! I have always followed low sodium eating because I grew up that way…but yes, cutting back on anything in a box, bag or can (which all contain high levels of sodium) will help.
Drink lots of water…the more water you drink, the less water you retain. I also sometimes drink Dandelion tea, which is great in helping you to not retain water, but to be honest, the tea tastes like butt!!! Not that I know what butt tastes like LOL If you want to try it, add honey to sweeten it. Honey is natural and your body process it better than artificial sweeteners.
Hope the above info helps! Let me know if you want the easy and inexpensive recipe for the habanero.

stop eating salt..especially raw salt (just sprinkled on top of cooked food)
Cutting down on sodium helps 1/3 of the people. Some say hawthorn berry helps, but it did not work for me. Also losing weight if you are overweight.
juice the tamarind mixing with water and drink one glass every day – it works 100%.
You just about have to take the medicine. Some high bp is inherited and nothing but medicine will help.
ahh
Garlic.
I am not kidding.. my boss is 67 and he was diagnosed with major high blood pressure… dangerously high. He didn’t want to take the high blood pressure pills because they do major damage to the liver.. so.. he started taking garlic.
Within a week he went back and it was back in the normal zones..
Seriously… use the garlic pills though as they don’t smell so bad..
Ummm, when the kids leave home? Seriously, Dawg, that’s too dangerous to go into without a doctor, a stroke can truly blow your mind.
a low sodium diet will do wonders
1] lose weight – should be in mid-normal range – 19 to 24% bmi is normal.
2] cut out added salt – in shakers, in sodas, in cold cuts/hot dogs/other processed meats, in chips/crackers/cookies, and all sweets.
3] exercise at least 30 minutes three times a week.
So high blood pressure meds all damage your liver –
HEART ATTACKS and STROKES don’t care if your liver is healthy, and they are the top three killers in the nation.
1. Walking for 30 minutes per day can reduce a person’s systolic and diastolic blood pressure by about 10 points in one month … not jogging, just walking. I have done it and it works.
2. Controlled breathing exercises. If you have the discipline to do it on your own, it works; but, if not, there is a small machine you can buy to help with this that has gotten excellent reviews. See it at http://www.resperate.com. It is a natural remedy without side effects that is proven to work in clinical trials. If your doctor agrees to prescribe it, insurance often covers it. We all know that pills are not always the best option, although doctors readily prescribe them.
3. The usual — reduce salt intake.
Regular exercise, no alcohol, healthy diet in moderation and be at proper weight.
