What is the best way to quit smoking which is reasonably inexpensive?
I need to stop smoking. I got addicted and didn’t think I would. It sucks and I hate them, but I cannot stop. Don’t even say cold turkey…

Cold Turkey is the only way that will work in the long run. Pills or patches as soon as you stop using them you’ll want to light up again. The first few days are the hardest, so stay strong.
It also helps if you change some of your other habits too, if you smoke a pack w/ your morning java, quit the java too, you’ll be less likely to have that craving
Don’t quit quitting, not many people do succeed on their first or second time, hang in there.
my grandmother bought suckers and everytime she wanted a cigarette she sucked on a sucker instead…it worked for her
find another addictive habbit to get into thats cheaper than smoking
I smoked 2 packs a day for nine years, and I quit cold turkey over 5 years ago and haven’t touched a cigarette since!
I went to Nicotine Anonymous meetings for support (they’re free, btw). I also kept lollipops handy and sucked one whenever I wanted a cigarette. Good luck!
Sorry but I quite cold turkey so my say in it is simple:
You can’t rely on anything but your own will power. Taking a pill or wearing a patch just becomes and excuse for failure.

Well, I think most nicotine patches and nicotine gum and the like is generally somewhat expensive, but that is just what I have heard, as I have never bought any myself, so maybe you ought to look into it. If you don’t want to quit cold turkey, you could just try to regulate how much you smoke every day, and then gradually decrease the # of cigarettes you smoke (since that is the idea behind the patches and gum, so you gradually need less and less nicotine). You would have to be strict with yourself for that to work though, and not just decide you can smoke 5 more cigs for the day, just because you have a bad day, or bum a bunch off of your friends. You could maybe set out however many you are going to smoke for the day, and put them in an empty pack, and then just smoke from that pack, so you won’t be tempted by a whole bunch of cigarettes sitting in your pocket. You actually have to be determined to quit though, or nothing will work.
