pour some water on whatever is smoking and it will extinguish the fire , if your talking about quitting smoking in a more normal sense here is the next best sarcastic answer I can come up with, don’t buy any more, don’t take any from your friends, don’t pick them up. don’t put them in your mouth, don’t light them, and if you do put them out, don’t breath them in, because if you do you are smoking and you should stop immediately, because they are bad for you, the best way to stop smoking is to just stop, anything else is the same thing as that just a varying version of it, you know what you have to do, I wanna quit as well, go get on the patch ask your doctor hell, I don’t know but I am sure the answer is in there somewhere
dont smoke
you have to want to quit, personal will, quit for yourself and not for others. and maybe aviod the bars for a while… also, it’s much easier to quit while you you’re sick, assuming you dont smoke with a sore throat. best of luck
Cold turkey… Did it 25 years ago… Glad i did…
Set up a planned day, get rid of all smoke related reminders, find a support person and stay away from smoke triggers. Such as a bar, a party etc.
I answered this question last month. I’ll just add, buy the paperback from the amer. cancer assoc. "21 days to quit smoking" Good luck
stop cold turkey
Patches, and the gum for in between! they say that smokers who quit by cold turkey always end up smoking again!
Willpower is the key though!
Good Luck and Good choice!
Quick!
the first step is to really want to quit. unless your gungho on quitting youll never do it. people associate everyday activities with smoking e.g morning coffee, reading the newspaper, driving, ect. so try to stay away from the thing you associate smoking with. also try to find alternatives to smoking. if you smoke under stress try a stressball or gum. if its pscological, say if its the action of smoking try chewing on a pen or stir stick. but always remeber you need to WANT to quit.
Find a substitute for example eat something else which is healthy to ur body. Initially it would be tough but eventually u will get used to it. All the best of luck!
Just stop..no gimics..I found that my will was the thing that helped me quit..also having my hands busy all the time and gum..or life savers..=)
Like, it depends on the number of cigarettes you smoke every day.
One of my friends spent lots of time with his family, cos they don’t smoke, and kicked the butt during a couple of weeks’ vacation in Bangkok, But then, he is a student, and has the luxury of time for a holiday, and he barely smoked 2 a day.
Keeping something to chew on, could be nice. Perhaps keeping a last smoke date would be a good idea. Like saying to oneself, -"after 30th Aug, I am not going to smoke any more."
Almost everyone says that gradual weaning doesn’t work.
By the way, are nicotine strips addictive???
onli stop smoke and reed books about what hapening with smokers, I stoped smoke. and am the happynest
That’s up to you, you just have to be ready and committed to stop. The hardest part of it is just saying, "today I’m not going to have anymore cigarettes." Picking a date never worked for me because it’s arbitrary….when YOU are ready, you can do it.
I’ve used the patch and that seems to help, but the biggest hurdle is mental not physical. It’s more of a reinforcement that I’m not going to smoke anymore than anything.
The best way is to change any habits that trigger smoking behavior. Take a different way to work if you smoke in the car, brush your teeth first if you have a smoke first thing in the morning, avoid the bars or go to a non-smoking one, drink tea instead of coffee, keep a piece of gum in your mouth. It sounds stupid, but it works.
The most important componant of changing your behavior to stop smoking is exercise in my opinion. If you are working out you won’t want to smoke. I started taking Kung-fu and it helped tremendously both from a physical and mental standpoint.
That said, I quit smoking for 1.5 years, but started again when I had a period of stress in my life. Told myself I would quit again in a few weeks, but that stretched into 8 months and on top of it I stopped working out, etc… Now I’m thirteen days into quitting again. You have to take one day at a time where you don’t allow yourself to smoke. It’s easy to fall back down that slope into becoming a full time smoker again.
Everytime u feel u want to smoke grab a glass of water instead
