I once worked at the VA admin building and hospital as a security guard and I would occassionally hear or see old vets taht smoked heavily their whole lives and military careers……now living off of breathing machines b/c taking them off would be the equivelant to someone putting their arms around your chest and hugging you as hard as they can and you taking deep breaths and still not getting enough air…..literally gasping for air, except they are just breathing normally.
Instead of smoking the cigarette, try eating it.
The best thing to do is do it cold turkey. Try not to think about it. I know it will be really hard for the first few days, but after that it gets alot easier. The way you feel after quitting by yourself is the best reward.
It’s different for everyone. I’ve quit a few times, and I’m convinced that the best way is to be so fed up with smoking that you’re willing to go through the withdrawal (which only lasts a few days) and remind yourself daily how much you hated being a smoker.
The first time I quit, though, I used nicorette for about five months. It was nice to feel the benefits of being a non-smoker right away, while I weaned myself off of the nicotine addiction. The trouble was, it was a long and slow process to get off the nicorette itself, and the temptation to start smoking again was always there. Personally, I think that if you can muster up the desire and confidence to stop for just one week without help, you’ll quit successfully.
there is a new prescription drug that helps stop your craving for nicotine… it is called Chantix…it worked for my wife, who had been smoking for years and was finding it very difficult to stop…there may be some mild side effects, queasiness, sleepiness etc so make sure you talk to your Dr first..it worked for her in about 10 weeks.
I’ve used the nicotine gum and haven’t smoked in 2 months now instead of smoking when the urge strikes just chew a piece of the gum and before long the cigarettes taste just nasty .. now i haven’t got clear off the gum yet but am almost there down to 1-2 pieces a day now so it won’t be long .

1) want to quit it.
2) repeat "i hate smoking" even while you are smoking
3) drink water when you want to smoke ( that is how i quit) and did not gain weights)
there’s no easy or best way to stop smoking. the only real way to do it is to just stop.
