What kind of bottles do you recommend for formula feeding?
I am going on 34 weeks pregnant & trying to get prepared for my daughters arrival. I will be formula feeding with her as I’m on blood pressure medication which passes through breast milk. I already received some bottles from my baby shower, I have a few Dr. Browns & Playtex with the liners. Are there any bottles that you recommend? And how many should I purchase before she gets here?

doctor brown’s but there are alot of parts to it.
S-26 Gold is good
I’d recommend Dr Brown bottles. I have 6 and that amount works fine for me
Well I have tried a couple of different types of bottles with my son sense he’s gotten home from the NICU, and have finally settled on Evenflo purely comfi, because they seem to create less air in his belly they also are suppose to help reduce the risk of colic and gas. He loves them and they are more comfortable me also because they are easy to get a hold of. I tried soothies with him and I wouldn’t come close to recommending those to anyone, first of all they leak, they only help give the baby gas and they are also uncomfortable for the mom or any other person feeding the child to hold.
But trust me you aren’t going to be the one picking her bottles she’ll pick them, so if you are wanting to just try something with her(which is what you’ll probably end up doing) just buy one of the single bottles until you know if that type of bottle is going to be something that’ll she’ll actually use.
And I just wanted to let you know (not to be nosie or pushy or anything) but if you want to breast feed even though you’ll are taking blood presure meds you can, my OB prescribed me high blood presure meds that are perfectly safe to use while breast feeding and trust me I have to use them my blood presure will shoot to 166/115 if I’m not, so I just wanted to let you know in case you didn’t think you had an option.
Good luck, on finding the bottle that is right for you and your baby!
We tried so many different bottles and found Avent to be the best… the assist with colic and have an air valve in them so the baby doesnt get wind… they were a heaven sent to us!
Dr Brown’s are best! My baby girl had terrible colic and they helped a lot.
i used playtex drop ins with my son and he had a lot of feeding issues, and these were the only bottles that worked. they colapse down like the breast does and they have no air cuz you push it all out…the best part is that they are BPA free…all these other bottles are so expensive and took years to make bpa free bottles and drop ins have always been bpa free…i now have a 5 week old baby girl and shes a much better eater then her brother, so i didnt need to be as picky or as worried. like you, i had a few different bottles from my shower. i tried avent, dr.brown, and the new born free (VERY expensive) and of course the drop ins. once again the drop ins won! they are cheaper, much easier to use, you always have a clean bottle…the best part is those middle of the night feedings..if you dont want to get right up and wash the bottle, its ok…just throw it out in the AM and you dont have to worry about trying to clean old milk out of a bottle!! i asked around when i was looking for a bottle and found most people use either the drop ins or dr.brown, but dr.brown has so many parts and its a thin bottle. like another poster said, thin bottles arent good for putting formula in, as you do spill it…another plus about the drop ins, they are wide, but not too wide for babys lil hands to hold when the time comes:) good luck on whatever you choose to use, and good luck with your lil girl…its amazing! welcome to mommyhood!
I went through loads of bottles with my daughter.
I had 6 of the avent wide neck bottles, they are great for formula because you don’t make a mess while trying to empty the cap of formula into the bottle, with the thin bottles you end up spilling half the formula while you are trying to pour it into the bottle, so if you do use the thin bottles make sure you buy a funnel as it will make things a million times easier.
Also make sure you buy BPA free bottles, most bottles are now BPA free and it will state it on the packaging.
I think around 6-8 bottles is enough, but if you want to be really prepared you could buy more just incase you lose any.
I use the Tommee Tippee ‘closer to nature’ bottles!
They’re anti colic and you can get anti colic plus ones that I used when my baby was younger. My baby has never suffered with wind as they have valves in them! The bottles teats are shaped like a breast and really flexible!!
I’d recommend them to anyone!!
Playtex Drop inns! I love them
The greatest kind is the orthodontic (doctor recommended) NUK style bottle. It is really great!!
Best of all, it is anti-colic, like the breast, and is EASY to put together, unlike Dr. Brown’s or any other bottle I’ve given my son. It is great!
the NUK bottles are the best, they’re anti colic, BPA free and very pretty looking on top of that
I use Playtex VentAire wide nipples. They work great, and my son never has gas or bubbles in his tummy. They are also really easy to put together even though there are 5 parts. I can do it with one hand (and I usually do, haha!)Idon’t know how well they work with newborns cause my son was 9 months when he started on them. But I do know they are a LOT like breastfeeding. He sucked on them the same way he nursed. They have the standard nipple too which would be just fine since you are strictly bottle feeding. I would get about 6 or so. More if you don’t want to wash a lot of bottles. I personally only have three, but he is 10 months, not a newborn. He only takes a bottle about 4 or 5 times a day. A newborn will take one 8-12 times or more!
