In the United States there are no OTC drugs for blood pressure.
Limiting salt intake helps, so does losing weight.
Provided you do not have a heart condition the most proven and cheapest way to lower blood pressure that is shown to prolong survival is a beta blocker used with a diuretic.
Usually they give you a diuretic first, then wait about a month, then add the beta-blocker.
The cheapest and safest diuretic is hydrochlorothiazide, some Beta blockers cause nightmares so generic Sectral which does not get into the brain avoids this.
There are alot of Rx drugs that lower blood pressure but they have not been proven to reduce the incidence of stroke or heart attacks.
You need to have your doctor chose the right drug for you, and if you lose weight you might be able to wean off the meds, but rebound effects occur so you have to slowly reduce dosages over time.

Go ahead with the sodium restriction and exercise program. You won’t lose significant weight in that time, but you have to start some time. Drinking lots of water does nothing but make you pee more. Drink however much you want, no more and no less.
Drinking a lot of water will keep your blood thinner and lower pressure. No salt or low salt.
Giving blood is only temporary.
Exercise is also good. Fast walking is better than jogging. Jogging causes varicose veins in your legs.
Weight loss, eliminating salt from the diet, increasing physical exercise & managing stress more effectively are the primary tools for combatting elevated blood pressure..
