By far, the most effective treatment to stop smoking is a prescription drug called Chantix. I work in a pharmacy and know many people that have quit smoking using it. Even my mother who has smoked for over 30 years has quit using this drug. Believe it or not, drugs such as this one are rarely discovered and every smoker should take advantage of this.
But before you start using this drug, make sure you are really ready to quit. You should start by modifying your behavior first. For example, if you always smoke when you get in your car, find something else to do when you get in your car rather than smoke.
The best way to go is COLD TURKEY.
i did acupuncture 10 years ago. i was smoking at least a pack a day. I never smoke anymore. if you are in toronto go see dr. hui,, he is famous!!!!
Nicotine gum works well. Also there is a new prescription drug out that will increase your chances of quitting called Chantix. Zyban is another prescription medicine that helps you to quit.
i saw on the local news that there is a new prescription drug on the market called acomplia it was originally mede to stop smoking but it has also been linked with weight loss i’m not sure if it is approved in the u.s. yet but i know you can order it from an online pharmacy
talk to your doctor about a drug called chantix, it really works. i have many patients that have started it and they have stopped. one was a 3 pack a dayer.
good luck
Cinnamon sticks. Seriously. I almost tried Chantix (something to that effect) but when I read the side effects and spoke to a few people who actually used it. No way. They said the worst part of Chantix was the nightmares, nausea, and headaches they experienced.
There is a ‘new’ laser technique out that I have heard rave reviews from. Is that available in your area? Sweets may cause you more problems than they will solve. Though sugar free gum might be a good investment?
We used the patches and the gum, and have been smoke free for over a year so far. There are (sometimes) programs in your community that will assist you with this as well. Call the county nurse in your area maybe they can help??
Best of wishes with your journey!!
