Hey, my prayers and best wishes are with you. I’ve successfully quit on more than one occasion simply by going cold turkey. There are several helpful hints though. First, try to avoid all situations where you would normally smoke. Second, try to drive the thought of smoking out of your mind. If you think about it, you might convince yourself to smoke. Third, exercise, proper diet (food will taste much better so watch your selection) and positive thinking will be your friends.
chew gum lots of gum and dont think oof smoking trust me im thirteen and i had to stop or i would get caught by my mom
really until u are ready to quit u never will! U might think you are but you have to be REALLY READY!
by quiting
cold turkey. just stop, get yourself away from them. when u make it over the three day "hump" it seems to get easier to forget them.
make a list of the reasons why you want to quit and keep it with you.
take up a hobby to keep busy so you dont want to have a smoke
Use lifesavers keep them in your pocket and everytime you want a cig put one in your mouth it really helps
I seriously hate you for asking this question!! I’m trying to quit now too, I just stopped buy them, and now…because of you, lol, I need one. And I don’t have any, ohhhh. Yes, it is hard, and it is killing me, but if you don’t buy any you can’t give in, and find something to keep you busy, that’s what I’m doin on here. Good luck, hope you can quit.
My best friend’s mum has quit smoking with the gum but uses the gum every now and then.
Just take exercise to keep your mind off it, so maybe when you’re dying for a smoke go on a little run or a swim. That will keep you fit and healthy to.
do not spend money on them when ever you feel the nerve put that money in a jar then at the end of the month spend it on some clothes everyone likes new clothes
lots of will power or something to scare the c*ap out of you.. .
in my case it was when some hot ashes fell on my new born baby (3 weeks old) that was enough warning I quitted and never even missed it
okk Im 13 and my mom knows i smoke ciggartesok. She cares lots but i keep on somokein. And i’v tried gum, im hooked probly smoke for the rest of my life now. Ill need a really big scare 4 me 2 quit 4 good. But my mom smokes 2 and shes tried everythin u did. Its 2 late 4 u.
I think that you have to have will power first and get a patch and gum too! It worked for my mom
throw some candies into ur mouth, a lollipop wud be great that way u cant put cigars in it and u’d satisfy urself..
Liquorice. Not red vines or candy. Go to the vitamin store and get liquorice caplets. Take them 3 or 4 times a day after 3 days the cigarettes taste like crap. Keep taking them unil you are weened. Should take 3 weeks.
Go to a hospital and take tour of all rooms that have people in it dying from emphasyma*. Picture yourself in their places. Then think about what the ciggs are doing to your lungs. And then when you are done with the tour, ask a doc to let you see a nicotine ridden lung black and all dried up. Actually thats not a bad idea. I should try it myself. Do you want to come with?
Other than that I wouldn’t have the slightest of clues, other than gum, and occupying your habit with food. Well I guess you could run on a tredmill for like 5 sec have to stop becuase your lungs cant take it. WOW ive never given myself such good advise to stop smoking. Will I go through with all of these plans though that is the question. Well if you want to come with you can msg me. But otherwise good luck to you on your journey.
The number one trigger of cravings for a cigarette is being around others who are smoking. I have not smoked for thirty years and yet when I have to be in a smoky room the craving comes back.
My dad was able to stop smoking through hypnosis therapy. He smoked from age 14 till he was about 55. So if anyone would have difficulty quitting it would be him.
Give it a try, it might help.
Good luck…
Make a really expensive bet with someone that if you don’t give it up then you will donate £200 or $250 to charity if you don’t make it for 12 weeks or something. You get a trustee to hold the cash for you. Make it public at school or make a civil announcement to the local paper.
i smoked for 25 years or so, I quit last may, I have tried a few times like you did for a week or few days and started back, this time I think its for real never have I thought that,. I think it takes a few tries then its for good,. I have 2 kids and they will cry if I start again. that helped me quit, and well nothing else. just do it. and remember how bad you hate to smoke. it stinks and cost a lot of money not to mention it will will will kill you, I lost my mom to smoking and my dad , please don’t smoke. remember you can quit. don’t say you cant any more. that did help some, to never say you cant only say you know you can quit, because you love life and if your young you should quit easier oh and it makes you old and ugly fast, I was real pretty and I got old looking faster then if i didn’t smoke. so quit now!!! ok now I’m done with my answer. lol
There is a new stop smoking drug called Chantix by Pfizer. It stops the cravings that you have when you don’t get nicotine. Go to the Pfizer website and read about it and then call your doctor and get a prescription. It is expensive but when you stop smoking, you will save a lot more money than this costs.
Good luck
Good for you, i hope you eventually make it and stop.
Just gradually take yourself off of it like less and less each week
Also, try to keep your mind off of it, go walk thru the mall, go see a movie with a friend, etc
Good Luck!
Quitting smoking is a great opportunity to learn about ourselves.
Congratulate yourself on having the desire to stop – then you are over the worst, but still need to maintain your resolve. It’s just so easy to start thinking that just one won’t hurt, but it does. Just one achieves nothing except feeling the need for another. Whatever you do, don’t have just one. Beware – alcohol will weaken your resolve.
Here’s a few home-brewed tips that might be useful.
It’s not just nicotine addiction – there are 50+ chemicals in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as ‘my body needs something’, which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these ‘my body needs something’ sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming – nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the ‘want something’ feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we’ve had one we still have the feeling, and want another!
We will have a few bouts of feeling or even being short tempered. We must try to bite our lip, and control; ourselves. Recognise the short temper as being the removal of toxins which are trying to find a way out. They went in through the mouth, and they try to get out that way to. We must learn to keep our mouth closed, and force the toxins out the other way.
After we have stopped for a while we will begin to feel that just one wont to any harm.
All that leads to is a desire for just another one. We must guard very strongly against the desire to have just one.
stop buying whatever you are smoking
