What’s the best way to stop smoking pot?
It’s usually no problem at first, then I start freaking out. What would be a legal drug a doctor could prescribe to keep me calm like pot does?

There is not drug that a doctor will give you to help you get off pot. Changing your habits will help. Get a hobby that is physically active. This will take your mind off the pot and help your body to become healthier. It will also take you away from some of the triggers that make you crave it. It will put you around people who do not get high so you will not be surrounded by it. It will make you happier and help you burn off stress so you will not crave it as badly.
You may also like to check out your local health food store to see about getting some kind of detox cleanse kit to help your body get rid of the residue in your body and help you past the physical withdrawal a little faster.
try meditation and reading some books or seeing a counselor to help you develop coping skills for the particular issues that you used the pot to help you through.
You’re having withdrawls.. that’s normal when you stop.. and there really isn’t anything a dr can prescribe.. but you can instead of stopping cold turkey, try easing off of it so that you just wean yourself off of it. It’s not as hard if you do it that way. No matter what you’ll have some withdrawl symptoms though, that’s to be expected..
that would be a question for the dr. i do know the worst way. getting arrested and going to jail. not worth it. the freaking out you are feeling is possibly related anxiety and paranoia brought on by the pot. pot is not physically addictive, only psychologically. just don’t do it. there are other ways to stay calm.
The last thing you need is to get a legal drug, which is more dangerous and addictive than what you started with!
"Freaking out" is usually not a reaction to stopping smoking pot.
The best way to stop is, well first of to stop, but then stop hanging around friends who smoke!
It’s a very social thing like drinking and if you hang around others who do it, so will you.
Good luck.
Valium.
Ok, it is a little hard to answer this without more information. Define freaking out … are you suffering anxiety? Panic attacks?
Withdrawal symptoms from quitting marijuana are not typically too bad (theer are exceptions though). This could simply be yourself trying to subconsiously give yourself an excuse to continue smoking, telling yourself that you need it because you cannot survive without it which is not the case.
You are better off learning to calm down and giving up pot cold turkey or you will simply become addicted to another calming drug.
Another way to think about it is if you are freaking out as you say then THAT is your issue … not the drug at all. Get to the bottom of why that is first and you will be better off.
