Patients who use nicotine replacement therapy (patch, pill, inhaler, lozenges, etc.) experience less weight gain than those who quit cold turkey.
Smoking decreases the oxygen level in your blood. Easy to understand as you’re sucking smoke into your lungs instead of air. This make your heart pump faster to try to bring what little oxygen you do get to your tissue. When your heart pumps faster it burns more energy. You stop smoking and your heart pumps at a steady/normal rate. This is why it’s almost impossible for people to not gain weight when they quit.
You should know, understand, and accept that a little weight gain (around 10 lbs.) is normal and usually comes off without any dieting, or increase in exercise, within a year of quitting. It should be thought of as part of the healing process. Most people wouldn’t complain about having to wear a cast to help a broken bone heal. Think of the fat as part of what your body needs to do to heal from all the years of smoking.
work out instead of smoking, then you stay thin and you don’t smoke….eat all you want as long as you get enough exercise to balance the calorie intake and loss
talk to god
Do Not Use Food As A Smoking Substitute. Try sugarless gum and long walks instead.
Five extra pounds is not as unhealthy as the crap that’s in cigarettes. In time it comes off again anyways – which for some reason nobody ever mentions.
Stock up on gum instead of chewing candies etc. And exercise cravings away. You’ll be fine.
Sunflower Seeds.
Buy a pack of sunflower seeds in substitution for your pack of cigarettes. Then when you get a craving tackle the sunflower seeds, they keep you busy, have no calories, and are good for you.
don’t start eating when you crave a cigarette
chew gums.
Eat a carrot every urge.
Drink loads of water.
Above all… Research breathing exercises. There are breath control methods like in YOGA where you can actually speed up your metabolism using your breath. And… filling your body with Oxygen is a great way to fill the craving and get a natural high.
Done it. Loved it. And I was successfull.
Quit smoking and drink lots of water. Give it 30 days.
Pick up a new active hobby; like racket ball, tennis, running, volley ball, swimming, or anything just to get you moving and breathing deep.
Exercise constantly and watch how you eat. Don’t eat after 6pm. And try going to bed early. I’m going thru the same thing right now. That is what works for me. Good luck.
P.S.- try eating alot of baked fish and chicken. Try eating plain tuna as well. With plenty of fruits, vegetables, and drinking plenty of water.
Throw away your cigarettes and crazy glue your lips together. LOL
